The Read Seed:
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

This summer, we met a mother of a two-year-old at a local outreach event in Mower County who had recently registered her daughter for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at another community event. After enrolling in Imagination Library, her daughter began receiving a free, age-appropriate book in the mail each month. The mom told us, “We love getting your books in the mail,” describing how her daughter eagerly waits for each delivery. She added, “She gets so excited to read,” explaining that the books have helped spark a growing love of books and stories.

The mom emphasized the program’s impact, saying, “She wouldn’t have books if it weren’t for this program.” Through Imagination Library, this family gained access to consistent early literacy resources, helping the child develop early reading habits and giving the mom confidence in supporting her daughter’s learning.
